Greetings everyone...I thought I would share this with all you parents out there. I have these for my kids and think it is an important thing to have, especially if something happened and you needed to relay information the the cops or emergency personel. I keep mine in my wallet all the time...not only do i have their info, but I also have two picks to show off that won't get messed up or ruined.

    From their website..

    HOW IS THE PROGRAM IMPLEMENTED?

IT'S EASY! It starts with the Principal or PTA/PTO just picking a date on the calendar for the IDENT-A-KID Program Day and the Program Director takes care of everything else. A supply of take-home material is provided to each teacher to distribute to the children. Those parents wishing to participate have their child return the envelope with the appropriate amount. On the designated Program Day an IDENT-A-KID technician will bring the participating children to the assigned area for pictures and fingerprints.

    (Double post at first, huh??)

    like I was saying before:

As usual, you da man. This sort of thing is a very good idea. I missed the last time Ident-a-kid came to one of the El Paso Police stations. How irresponsible of me. I won't be forgetting about it after this thread, though.

um ya...sorry about that kay! It is always a crap shoot as to which double post to delete...

You know I would imagine most parents don't even think to have the kids fingerprinted at a young age, but now I think with as much crazy stuff that goes on it is fastly becoming that should be a concern. Like even yesterday there was a young boy taken away from a sporting goods store...They found him unharmed thankfully, but that is what one wishes would happen all the time.

No prob jeannie...I also forgot to mention there is one in their backpack as well, so if one of them did get lost or something they could be identified quickly.

I've already had my daughter fingerprinted and have a disc ready to go to the police if need be. It has her picture and vitals on it.

Just for general information: The vast majority of kidnappings in the United States of America are caused usually perpetrated by parents. Strangers just randomly taking kids is very rare.

I suggest reading the book, "The Culture of Fear" by Barry Glassner (a sociologist).

I don't think I need a book to tell me of fear for the lives of my kids or anything I could do to enhance identifying them, especially if they were simply lost. That is one of many parent's fears in regards their children and is hardly a matter of culture. I don't doubt most kidnapping are by one of the parents, in which case cards like this would not apply towards identification.

    Sincerely,

Understandably... it is a good idea nonetheless. Though, one should think that if anyone were to have a database like this, it should be the government (well, in Canada, we think everything should be run by the government ).
