Living On the Edge of Uncertainty.

There is, for many of us, a moment in life when we make a choice that changes us forever. This moment marks a turning point, a threshold of sorts, when we realize that the life we are living is not a reflection of who we really are.

Many, including myself, are living on the edge of uncertainty. Frightening world events, overwhelming amounts of information, even here on the forum, has cause a transformation that changes us as we shift our beliefs from what we once believed was unshakeable.

I now realize that living the life of one of Jehovah's Witnesses was and is not a reflection of who I really am.Once having been secure in the great issues of life as a JW, I now find myself living on the edge of uncertainty when it comes to the great issues of life. So, I find myself coasting along, feeling quietly unfullfilled. By this , I don't mean unfullfilled concerning my family or work. I mean unfullfilled in what I once thought was fulfilling, namely, a life as one of JW'S.

That life is gone forever, and this is a good thing that has happened for my family. It marked a turning point that helped us to realize that the life we were then living was not a reflection of who we really are.

Other than the uncertainty of things about the great issues of life, life outside the wbts.has been a dramatic change for the better.

Reading about the lives of many on this forum and the experiences that we all share confirms this.

We finally (if we are lucky) face that precipice...that "edge of uncertainty."

And it scares the holy shit out of us.

And yet, if we have the courage to face it, we find new energy beyond...we don't just fall down into the abyss.

Reminds me of the saying: "The journey is the destination."

    Respects,

    Craig (on-a-cruise of his own)

Thanks Craig. It is a journey that many have traveled before us and many will follow after us.

Have you two been hitting the Brandy and cigars again? You know you only provoke one another, doncha?

I would suggest that life has many "turning points". The most radical one appears often at middle-age, though, where cherished beliefs and paradigms are challenged in the face of the dawning reality of our own mortality.

    *sigh*

yesh, uncertainty. How wonderful a life is when you get comfortable with uncertainty.

*pfffff* to the box we used to live in. Very confining and false sense of certainty. Boy can I spot phony certainty now and steer clear.

Hi Littletoe! I agree with you that life has many turning points. I was addressing just one of them as jw's, for all of us here and the lurkers that read here also.

Other turning point where we make a choice to change may be the result of when something dramatic comes along. The death of a loved one, the diagnosis of a life - threathening illness, even the sudden loss of a job.

What I never saw, or was "awake" to see while a JW was all the negativity this religion creates and fears of not wanting to be doomed to die. But isn`t the lesson we are suppose to be learning while we are here is to live life, enjoy it, and appreciate what we have and can do??? I have met more Christians on the outside than I ever did while a member of the "borg". JW`s are a bunch of rude, self-serving snobs.

Of course this is just my opinion from what I grew up with.
