Interesting that the so-called future head of a church is going to have a registry office wedding!

Prince Charles to Marry at Town Hall Feb 17, 11:40 AM EST

    The Associated Press

LONDON -- Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles will not wed at Windsor Castle, the prince's office announced Thursday, but at the local town hall.

Clarence House office said the April 8 civil ceremony would take place at the Guildhall in Windsor, west of London, rather than at the castle as announced last week. A blessing led by Archbishop of Canterbury Rowan Williams after the ceremony will take place at the castle's St. George's Chapel.

Windsor's town hall, the Guildhall, was built in 1690. It is a sturdy building of brick and Portland stone, partly designed by Christopher Wren.

It is one of 29 approved venues for civil wedding ceremonies in the Windsor area. Local authorities charge 265 pounds ($500) for a weekday ceremony ? plus 20 pounds extra if, like Charles and Parker Bowles, a couple wishes to wed on a Friday.

They were planning to get married in Windsor Castle, but apparently to get a marriage license for the venue, one of the requirements is that anybody at all can get married there for the next three years. And they obviously didn't want that. So they're having a registry office wedding instead. They'll probably have the reception in the local pub. The "Horse and Hound" would be appropriate.

I read where one of the reasons that Charles pushed for marriage is that he's been living with the Camilla for the past few years and she was snubbed last December at some wedding. She apparently wasn't allowed to enter the VIP entrance with him and that was the catalyst do get married. So as many couples do, they're making it "legal."
