Recently while at a witness gathering, I noticed that many "young ones" in their twenties and thirties are talking about buying or building a home. Buying or building a home is one of the most expensive commitments you could ever make.
In the USA, an average mortgage lasts 30 years.
In light of all the advice that the FDS have given, regarding using our "remaining time in this system of things wisely", I really
don't see or feel an urgency from these friends about the imminence of Armaggedon.
And these ones aren't necessarily doing badly spiritually - they go to the meetings, answer up and some of the brothers are servants.
But you never, EVER hear about the "new system" or "Armaggedon" in their conversations - even when at the Kingdom Hall.
It's like when the meeting is over, or they're at a gathering, part of their program shuts off and the everyday affairs and cares of this world become their subject - movies, restaurants, homes, cars etc.
It's been my observation that this "urgency" we are all supposed to have only exists at the Kingdom Hall - if that, and that
most dubs blissfully get on with their lives...
which should be disturbing to the Society -
after all, building a home or buying one could hardly be construed as simplifying ones life can it?
