I am wondering why I haven't really heard about many from that area on the forum. I knew so many people growing up that have left and yet haven't actually connected with anyone so far. I know Franklin lives where my brothers do, but no one else has surfaced so far.

Anyone go skating at Jahns roller rink in Levittown(I think it's been a long time). I am really dating myself now. PC

My ex brother in law along with his wife attended the Huntington LI congo.

He moved to NJ and she has relocated to Virginia.

I attended the St. Albans congo in Queens for a while.

I attended the Huntington Long Island congregation my entire JW life. My father literally helped to build the kingdom hall, and installed the sound system at his own expense. He was an Elder.

Huntington was and still is an affluent Long Island community. By JW standards, the members of that congregation when I attended were all ( and I include my family) materialistic. You had to be to survive in the community. From what I see now of the physical building; it houses an English; French and Spanish congregation. It is located in a very upscale residential neighborhood. I am sure those neighbors ( who spend close to a million dollars for a home) are just "thrilled" with all the cars crowding the street constantly to house those ongoing meetings.

I have not encountered anyone else on this forum from the area. But it would be interesting to see if any of the others i grew up with have survive, and what they are all doing.. I did grow up with Alan Fs cousins; and knew them well, but from what I hear they are all still practicing JWs.

JAHNS ROLLER SKATING RINK! YES! I remember going there with other " young people" and of course, afterwards going to SWENSONS for a hot roast pork sandwchich and ice cream. I believe it was torn down to build an IKEA furniture store....guess I am dating myself also....this must be back in the early 70s...

Franklin we have alot in common. I am 46 so just aliitle younger then you. My dad did all the planning and organizing for the building of our Kingdom Hall. I was in Farmingdale. (Now if anyone is lurking from there they will surely no who I am. I suddenly don't care anymore).

We went to Jahn's every Friday and I completely forgot about Swensons..Wow!!

I grew up in Uniondale. My brother attended the Farmingdale Cong. for some years when he was still a JW (he quit in the late 1980s). When I was a kid I played and even worked at the America On Wheels roller rink, and often was at Jahn's restaurant. They no longer exist, I believe. PM me if you like.

OMG just joined the forum and in the early 70's I would bring a group of kids from the Ozone Park cong to skating at Jahns roller rink in Levittown. It was on Sunday and that was the only time we could be ourselfs.
