Mark, sorry to hear about your friend's husband. I can't help you with Bible quotes, but maybe you could look for one in another card. Look in stores like cvs, brooks, or even Christian book stores, upper room, charisma, stores like that. You might be able to find a quote in a different card, and rewrite it in the card you are sending. We are catholic too, and will pray for him, also.

Hi Mark,
I'm Catholic as well. There are several good passages from the Bible that can be used to comfort the sick. Look them up and choose your favorite.
Numbers 6:24-26
Psalm 23
Psalm 91:1-9
Psalm 121
2 Cor. 1:3-5

2 Corinthians 4:16-18 (Douay version): "For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man is corrupted, yet the inward man is renewed day by day. For that which is at present momentary and light of our tribulation, worketh for us above measure exceedingly an eternal weight of glory. While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen, are temporal; but the things which are not seen, are eternal."
Or, as "The Message" puts it: "So we're not giving up. How could we! Even though on the outside it often looks like things are falling apart on us, on the inside, where God is making new life, not a day goes by without his unfolding grace. These hard times are small potatoes compared to the coming good times, the lavish celebration prepared for us. There's far more here than meets the eye. The things we see now are here today, gone tomorrow. But the things we can't see now will last forever."
My favorite chapter of the Bible, in any translation.

JN 11:25 Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies; 26 and whoever lives and believes in me will never die.
Psalm 23
A psalm of David.
The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not be in want.
He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters,
he restores my soul. He guides me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.
You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.
Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.PS 73:23-26
(Yet) I am always with You; You hold me by my right hand.
You guide me with your counsel, and afterward You will take me into glory.
Whom have I in heaven but You? And earth has nothing I desire besides You.
My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.Best wishes to your friend.

2Cor.3
And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being changed into his likeness from one degree of glory to another; for this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit. -
