It has always puzzled me why Jehovah's Witnesses still celebrate the Memorial. After all if it says in 1 Corinthians 11:26
"For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup you proclaim the Lord's death TILL HE RETURNS"
Why then do they still celebrate the Lord's supper every year? Surely if he returned in 1914 then they should have stopped then?

I talked about this with an elder one time. It seems like they weasel out by using the alternate meaning of "return". That is, he hasn't returned with all his angels to bring God's judgment on all us evil ones!
Yes, he returned in one sense in 1914, but the JW's weasel out by saying he hasn't returned in the SECOND sense.
Besides, how could they give up their greatest annual recruiting meeting?

Yes that's true. You just wonder how many times Jesus is going to return. I mean isn't it referred to as the second coming. This line of logic means that it's his third coming!!

It must be the only thing they can do as an "observance" to convince them they EVEN believe in Jesus since they are accused daily they are not EVEN christians.
Why? They don't even need to anymore since NONE of the remaining remnant in the cong around the world don't mean didly squat to them and don't have ANY say so to food at the proper time. The GB have been replaced. They KEEP them up there as puppets to keep the organization loyal to them.
It is the corporation and those runned by it, the others sheep that are leading folks. Blind leading the blind and they BOTH fall into the pit.

Hello all, peace to ALL of YOU!
I met several witnesses in their street work and asked all of them why they celebrated the memorial.
They answered saying, "Because Jesus commanded us to."
So I asked, "Didn't he only command those who 'ate and drank?' " (I couldn't say 'partake' because they would stop talking or change the conversation)
They answered; "Yes. but its for all to attend."
I said "Oh really, where? because everywhere in the bible, EVERYONE who EVER attended ATE and DRANK."
So after they heard that they agreed and said, "That's because they all had that hope. But we who don't have the heavenly hope need to commemorate his death by being there and 'showing appreciation.' "
So I said, "Why do you have to attend the memorial to do that. Can't you 'commemorate' his death by preaching? For the very BASIS of preaching REQUIRES you to "remember his death."
They were quiet.
So I said, "Ok, what was that scripture that said 'all can attend?' "
so while they were looking for the 'scripture,' the spirit told me that they are not going to find it because they know that if they do, it will tell them they also must partake.
So they later stopped and said, "We don't know, we'll have to 'research it.' "
I was like "okayyy. Sure. Where can I see you again, same place?"
They said, "Yeah, in about 2 weeks."
I went back, never saw them again.
Go figure.
