I was baptized in 1986 at the tender age of 11 yoa, but I remember after sitting through that stupid talk (where I almost fell asleep, no kidding) and then prayer, then getting dunked, then they announced a welcome to all newly baptized people and said "WELCOME TO THE GREAT CROWD"

It's so weird remembering that specifically.

Now I think, welcome to the great dwindling crowd of duped people not going anywhere.

JTP - I don't recall any such announcements in my area -

But I find the timing interesting - 1986 in the post - Ray Franz apostate thinking era. Could it be they were sensitive to the idea that some might be thinking that they could actually have a relationship with God thru Christ, even be headed to heaven....maybe not be of a secondary class that had to gain salvation thru the organizational mediatorship ?

    Just thinking out loud.

I was babtized in 86 also. Funny thing is, I don't remember any of it. The talk, questions or dunk. It was at a CA in Woodland Hills, Cali.

11 yo is very young to get batized ! And the WTS knocks the catholics for batizing babies, an 11 yo isn't much better, as if he can make an informed choice. I was also batized in 1986, but no one welcomed me to the great crowd, it was a probably something that, that speaker dicided to say and not on the WTS Batizism talk outline.

I was baptized in 1989 and I recall something similar being said by the brutha giving the talk.

I can hardly forget a moment of it, from sitting up front to waiting to be called, to getting dunked, to changing clothes.

And the WTS knocks the catholics for batizing babies,

The WTS has knocked the Catholics over EVERYTHING they do! But how many Catholics get harassed when they don't attend church every time the doors are open? How many Catholics who decide to stop attending church, are shunned until they "earn" the right to be spoken to once again?

The arrogance of the WTS is overwhelming.

One time when I had started to drift away, in my own mind anyway, we went to a dist. assy.

One of my younger children felt a little sick. Aha I thought, this gives me an excuse to take the child back to the motel and I can lounge in the pool with a drink.

I took my child and went back to the motel and did just that.

After about 15/20 minutes an odd looking group started to take over the pool.

Then it dawned on me. Those damned jw's had gotten permission to use the pool for baptismal.

I vowed to myself that I would stay in that pool no matter what.

Ya know, after a few minutes the whole thing bothered me so much that I just had to walk away,

Not due to embarasment or respect, just couldn't stomach it.

Doesn't revelation say something about the great crowd (those in the courtyard) being cast out. I really don't think Rev says any of the great crowd will be saved, but hey, what do I know?
