By AMY SMITH / Provincial Reporter

The chairman of the Nova Scotia Liquor Corp. racked up nearly $3,500 in expenses in less than five months.

Taxpayers will pick up the cheque for $305.87 for Peter McCreath's stay at the casino hotel in Halifax on Dec. 10, the night of a Christmas dinner for NSLC board members and executives. Nova Scotians will also have to pay $43.48 for his cab to Hubbards the next day.

Not only did he stay o/nite at one of the most high-end hotels in the city, we paid for his cabfare home the next day!

Cost of his hotel room: $ 305.87

Monthly food allowance for disabled person in NS: $124.00

    Public Servant? Pish Posh!!!

There's always more money, I doubt that 3500$ is going to make much of a difference anywhere.

We can always do more for health care, education, policing, poor people, and for disabilities, but it will never be enough since we can't please everyone.

Politics is not the only place people have a perverted sense of monetary morals.

I once had to tell my receptionist at the time that I could not give her a raise that would have amounted to $3,500.00 for the year knowing that the company big wig had just upped his airline ticket to overseas from Business to First Class at an additional cost of $6,800.00 to the company. He also had arranged to have a limo service pick him up and drive him to the airport from his home 30 miles from the airport rather than drive his company car; an $80,000 special order BMW.

People like that are bastards and I have no respect for them at all. My poor receptionist was sorely deserving of a raise and needed it badly. I felt like a complete scumbag for having to tell her it was not in our budget knowing what Mr. Bigshot tanking the company was doing at the same time.

Sadly, I have to work with executives like that every day. Sometimes I hate HR. Perhaps I should just take the paycut, sell my home and go work at the womens shelter instead of just volunteering part-time. I'd certainly have more peace of mind.

It sounds like you are saying this "Yes, those pesky disabled people, not wanting to go hungry." Wow, that's pretty cold, man.

Yes, the people w/ the most $$ get the perks. When I worked at the phone company, executive branch all making 6 figures, had company cars, parking, etc. etc. The secretary for the dept. (a divorced mom of 2) was having her power cut off cause of the deadbeat ex not paying child support. I mean, puh-lease! It's capitalism, at its finest.

Good ending - she won the lottery just as the wolves were at the door - not rich, but about $100 Gs.

Yes, I was reading that story as well. Arrgghhh!! And those poor people ... I'm sure the families feel there is no justice.
