the jehovahs witnesses, though misled in their doctrine, are still a passionate people for god. why is it that so many who were once so devoted to god have turned from him. do you not realize that religion is man made, and therefore, all church's doctrines are subject to mistakes. i truly believe that the jws hearts are in the right place, but they are following teachings from a human government, rather than that of god. if who ever reads this no longer believes in the god of the bible, then fine----but why do you no longer believe. you have left the jw church and left everything else behind as well. i understand being angered by those who are false prophets, but why drop it all instead of searching for truth among those prophets who are of god? they can be found in the bible, and with the use of a concordance and a couple of different versions of the bible, ie, nrsv, king james, nit, student bible, etc, one can read what was originally written. the nwt is an interpreted bible, not a translated bible. why not search among translated bibles? why have you allowed man to turn you away from god?

Regarding the prophets: the words of the prophets were fulfilled in their life time or shortly thereafter. Nothing in their words apply to today. On a side note, someone does not have to be inspired to prophecy. Anyone with a little foresight can size up a situation and see when there is trouble brewing.

I'm not an atheist, but I have "turned away" from your God. He seems a bit too brutal for me, a little too demanding, and just too... well... too male for me, as a woman, to really relate to or feel comfortable with.

From what I've read about your God, he doesn't value women much. Sure, there are some nice things thrown in here and there, but overall, the "natural use" (Romans 1:26,27) of women in the Bible is to be as playthings for men, always submissive, always subordinate, always a servant, alwats "tainted," never an equal. And why? For something that's that's no more than a genetic coin-toss. It's senseless and disgusting.

I couldn't start serving your God again without sacrificing my self-respect. I just can't do it, and I don't see why I should.

lark, im so glad that you were willing to comment, but you didnt answer my question, or even acknowledge the subject. however, since you did want to give you opinion on the prophets, tell me why you think that the prophets wrote the scriptures for the people of their time, and if that is true, then when did the 6th trumpet sound which brought an army of 200million and destroyed 1/3 of the world's population?

Before I start, welcome to the board.
Some of us, after having left the organization, searched for meanings in the prophecies we have read so many times in the scriptures. Without the formula put forth by the society though, things are quite different. Please take some time and check into Preterism and Partial Preterism. It may be worth your while and help with future discussions on the board. Some of us have found it very enlightening, I know I have.

    Hey Not
We spoke in chat earlier, before I was rudely booted by my ISP. You told of a few Jw's that come to your house, and you also mentioned you were christan. I no longer believe in god of the bible, similar to Sunchild's views. Nice to see you BTW Rochelle

I realized that god of the bible is a cruel man. He created all things, including satan...but refuses to acknowledge all that. He is not present in this life and is much like an absentee father. For years I believed in god outside of the JW faith. I focused on the love and goodness, that jesus spoke of in the bible. Until recently my views changed. I saw the black side of god, and it is not pretty. I want nothing to do with that. I will not acknowledge that he should be worshipped, and refuse to teach my children of him, as so many generations have done. Blindly following, without questioning.

I understand the need for you to preach about him. I understand that you want all to know of him...I too was like that. But you must look rationally at him, and determine yourself if this god you worship is really worthy of being praised. I know he is not. There are so many others who can say it better than I, but I had to give it a try.

In a controversy the instant we feel anger, we have already ceased striving for the truth, and have begun striving for ourselves.
