    G'day all,

We're a little later than usual this weekend - sorry! were you wondering where we were?

Well, these past two weekends we've been looking at the topic of the Awake! going monthly and this weekend marks the third in the set (oh no, is that a trinity??????!!!!!!!)

Some posted last weekend that the reason for the move to a monthly was all down to money, which begs the question of this weekend's poll which is:

How will the Society make up for the loss of income from 12 issues of the Awake! each year?

    1. Invite the householders to donate double to "the world wide work"!!

    2. Tell the publishers they've got to cough up double when they pick up their magazines!

    3. Send begging letters.

    4. Tell the BOE to put a resolution to make a regular (extra) donation to the Society.

    5. Sell advertising for Smurf-rid spray.

    6. Print the magazine on toilet paper.

    7. Dunno.

    8. Other (please detail)

No doubt your imaginative ideas will be closely watched by the Watchtower mole(s), so keep those replies flooding in!

    Enjoy.

    Cheers, Ozzie

I'm guessing that things can go a couple of different ways:

    1) JWs will order double their Awake! order so when they offer the Watchtower, it will always be paired.

    2) for Magazine Routes?, Return Visits? will drop down to once a month, and they'll offer the two Watchtowers companioned with the corresponding Awake!

Have you ever noticed how often the WTS brings up how to donate during the announcements at the conventions? I anticipate a similar tactic during the meetings at the KH.

They saved a lot of money by cutting 1/2 the issues, bottom line will go up.

    Selling off more real estate.

Perhaps some of the above as well.

Awake! isn't an income item, it's an expense item. Compensation for shipped literature and the "at the door collections" is a petty cash affair now. The real money is in "gift" donations, event sponsoring, and real estate speculation and development.

There is SOooooo mush CASH in the event business that the Watch Tower Conglomerate owns convention facilities that compare with those run by municipalities. This is HUGE for them.

The gift division is doing very well too. Some individual trusts generate a million US dollars a year.

The Watch Tower Conglomerate would actually be smart to get all the way out of the printing business. They just need to figure out how to still control all their people and not publish.

They could just go into the construction business full time and forget about the door to door sales of religious / political literature. They could be Jehovah's Contractors. The new dress code could be bib overalls with a nail apron instead of a neck tie.

They could make some of those cute little bracelets and charge only 1.00 to cover the cost of rubber....

How do they solve other problems?

Why......I feel 'new light' coming on brothers....

Yeah...thats right....Jehovah wants the FDS to institute a 'tithing arrangement'....but still no collection plates...that would be too 'churchy'

Instead it would be be electronic funds transfer direct from your bank account....or better yet...by payroll deduction...deposited straight to the WTS....another loving provision brought to you by the (drum roll please)...FDS!!!

I would think all three of these

They've already started to make up for the financial loss, by chopping off 7% of the worldwide Bethel workforce.

Such hard times...I feel so sad.

Dunno about this - do we think it's the "bottom line" that's most important for the Borgmeisters or is it the turnover?

I'll bet we can argue either way.

    So....let battle commence!!!!!!!
