It's a medical show, taking it's title from the name of the main character, Dr. Gregory House.
In last night's episode, a person with a failing liver was "connected" to a live sedated pig. In the story, the pig's liver was supposed to perform the blood cleansing that the patient's failing liver could not.
Is this based on fact?
Is there such a procedure?
Does it work?
Aren't there problems with pig blood entering the human patient?
Does the surviving patient get a luau in his honor afterwards, with the pig as the "special guest?"
I think a liver is just a filter. Think about a pool filter, a water filter, a car filter. I am sure any liver would do. I have no idea, but it sounds plausible, does it happen in real life? I have no idea.
I do know that they have used pig ligaments in people, and some other parts. I know someone who had knee surgery and I think the parts were from a pig. I also think I've heard of using pig or cow veins or valves in surgeries. But like I said I don't know for sure.

We watch it! I had never heard of that and thought it was pretty neat. I'm sure it must be an actual procedure.
Great show, isn't it? Although I can't stand the new CEO, but he will add something new to the show I guess.
