An acronym which I first heard from the ex-husband of my ex-wife. He was an ER physician (Providence, Rhode Island, USA), and he believed this so much that he had it as his auto license plate.
He recently had a cerebral aneurysm, and is now incapacitated for life, barely able to walk.
I don't want to "live" that way.
