Must I be your conscience?

Must I be your conscience? Must I tell you what to do and how to do it?

Do you think about me all the time? Do you wonder what I'd do in a situation?

Do I have to tell you what movies to watch? You know the ratings.

Do I have to tell you what music to listen to? You know the lyrics.

Do I have to tell you how to spend your time? You read this in the magazines.

And what about the clothes you wear? Do I have to tell you how to dress?

Should I go to college? What do you think? Why do you keep asking me all the time?

Should I get a career? Why ask me? It's your life, you make the decision.

Should I pioneer? Don't ask me I'm struggling.

I know sometimes you need an answer, an opinion. I'll help you sometimes, but not everytime.

What should I do with my life? Figure that one out for yourself.

So why keep asking me questions about your life? Why can't you make the decision?

You have your own conscience, go bother someone else...

1 Corinthians 10:29 ".. For why should it be that my freedom is judged by another person's conscience?

If I am partaking with thanks, why am I to be spoken of abusively over that for which I gave thanks?"

The lesson all witnesses should learn - if you know what the Bible says, why ask for a second opinion?

"Just to make sure," that's why! Witnesses have a mental dependency on the Watchtower. They need the WT stamp of approval to what they do, proving that the Bible is not the self-sufficient book they claim it to be.

The WTS systematically undermines people's confidence in their reading skills.

The rank and file need someone to explain the meaning of what even the most basic WT article means.

You can't possibly understand what the bible means by reading it. They tell you what it actually is saying.

To me a classic example is an article where Jesus' words "you must love your enemies and pray for those etc," is twisted with old testament legalism, so at the end we SHOULD hate certain people, and should not pray for those outside the Borg.

I like that quote from their bible a lot. How many times have we been urged not to do anything that would stumble our brothers or their conscience. In the same chapter it talked about not asking where the meat for a meal came from. It might have been part of a sacrifice or even not properly bleed but it was not up to you to put rules in place the way the WT has in regards to this matter. I am sure they didn't inquire if the dog or cat food they fed to their pets was without blood as the WT has done. They talk about conscience and free will but in the end the only conscience you are commanded to follow is theirs.

Yep, especially in the comprehensive category. The intention is infuse reliance on the WTS instead of Gods word.

Good comments. They can't trust the rank and file to interpret the Bible on their own. For them, the Bible is actually an incomplete book. I specially liked hamsterbait's words:
