Strange Dream... I woke up in 1989

  I just had the strangest dream. In the dream I went to bed tonight but when I awoke in the morning it was 1989 and I was still in High School.

  I was in my younger body but with all of my current knowledge. I remember being frustrated that I had not paid more attention to the stock market, until I remembered Microsoft and Yahoo and others like that (a fortune waiting to be made with just a few thousand dollars).

  In the dream I was able to correct a lot of mistakes and interact with people with the knowledge and wisdom I have now as opposed to the knowledge and wisdom of a teen. I also remember being very frustrated at not having access to all of the information on the internet, instead I had to go to the library and wait weeks for information to be tracked down that today I can get in seconds from a Google search. There was also the frustration of having to go through all of the technological evolutions again. In my dream people did not believe that anything like the internet could possibly exist.

  If you would go back to 1989, what would you do?

  Now that is wishfull dreaming......

  1989 was to late for me to make the changes I would like to have today....

  But when it was 1981/1982 - then I would have choosen residence in another part of our country - since that part (Goedereede) is not allowing me to rent a house there today..... (only people that were born or work there- politics) I have to wait till I am 65: then they are allowing me to rent a house there (when I find one) but I don't think I will ever consider to move their since I have much-to-much-to-much stuf here...... would go crazy when I have to pack all of that again.....

  and lets be honest: I do have a nice house in a quiet neighbourhood..........

  Lessee 1989...

  I would have quit Pioneering and gone back to school, in some technology related field.
  I would probably have defered marriage for longer than I did (I met my prospective spouse in 1991).
  I would definitely have jumped on the technology bandwagon, and have made my fortune.

  However, I would then have missed a wide range of careers, people and experiences.
  IMHO what has happened was meant to be, and I am who I am for it.

  Being back in 1989 with todays knowledge I would definitely buy Microsoft stocks. As a result I would be happily living on Big Island Hawaii today drinking Pina Coladas and enjoying the beaches.

  NICE DREAM! To bad it's just that.

  Reality: I'm sitting in cold Germany, working 9 to 5 and driving around with my 15 year old car.

  I wouldn't have cut my hair. I would have stopped hair spraying my hair up to heights beyond belief.

  I would have insisted on wearing contacts, shaving my legs, and wearing makeup.

  I would have made my parents take me to a dermatologist. Oh how things have changed!

  I would have given myself more credit for being a good kid that they failed to see.

  I would have reported my dad to authorities instead of the elders. But then again, I would have lost my family alot quicker doing it that way.

  I don't think that the amount of wisdom I have now would have been healthy for a 14 year old to carry around. But I would have liked having the confidence I have now.

  At that time, I loved my family, I loved my religion, I was just starting to get annoyed at all of the rules they burden you with.

  But in the end I have to say, no regrets! I did the best I could for the time in my life that it was.

  Strange subject since I went to bed last night and the year was 2021 and I was 45, but I woke up this morning and I'm 29 again. Now I know exactly what's going to happen for the next 15 years, I'm going to make sure people are cleared out when those big natural disasters hit. And I know exactly which companies are going to hit it big and I can invest in their stock. Whew, and now I know which girls not to date. I'm so lucky.

  I have frequent dreams of being back in high school 1969, and planning for college in my dreams. I actually went to college at night for 6 months shortly after high school.

  I think my dreams are my symbolic craving for further education. I didn't stay in because of marrying and becoming a JW one year after getting married. I always regretting not completing my college education. So my dreams are a longing, I am sure. If I had the good health and money I would go to college in a flash. But now I'll have to wait till my reincarnated life. LOL This body is pooped out.

  hmm...i would wake up late, go play some basketball and then go down to the gas station and buy some candy. i was 8 in '89.

  if i knew what i know now back then, i would probably just start crying and then go hide under my bed until i turned 24. oh, and i'd place insane bets on all major sports events.
