Are you preoccupied with the future? What will tomorrow bring? What does my future hold? If you could, would you want to know what the future holds for you? What will happen to you?

Do you find peace of mind by believing that tomorrow will be pretty much like today, that what you have on your agenda will come to pass just as you planned it?

Deep down inside we know the truth of our fears, one unexpected call, a few words from the doctor, and our lives are changed forever!

Analysts, forecasters, etc. try to re - assure us about our future.

So, do you have Future Phobia? Mine is not knowing what the future holds for any of us.Living life one day at a time.

Yeah I have a futurephobia, it's my semi-obsession with Peak-oil, that's the point where the oil productionrate reaches it's all time peak and then starts declining, sparking an economic depression in the 2010's, rivaling the depression of the 1930's. It looks like this "peak-oil" will hit before 2010 and some say the actual peak might actually be in 2005 or 2006. I've been frequenting this site and it's forum: http://www.peakoil.com/

It seems to me this might become defining for the economics of an entire generation and the story might be making BIG headlines in the near future. For now it's a very BIG underground movement of people who are investigating for themselves and are worried about the lack of coverage and interest by the mainstream media and politics. I've been reading and thinking about it ALOT over the last nine months and hardly a day goes by that I don't check for new articles on the subject What I've noticed over the last three months is that the amount of articles on Peak-Oil is growing exponantially and now include articles from the more leftwing-liberal mainstreammedia.

This site has the most up to date articles, updated several times a day:

Thanks for getting this off my chest again....

yes. now that i am no longer a dub, i have *real* future phobia to a degree. i think it is a result of "knowing" what the future held for so many years as a JW, and now being in the position that i have no idea at all what the future holds. i am trying to break out of this psychology because i know it is not healthy or normal, and i think i may be able to someday.

the energy crisis we are about to enter really scares me too. it could turn really bad. but then again, it might be resolved peacefully. but there are no easy answers like the ones the org provides it's members. it is scary that so much of what i will experience in the coming years is not really controlled by me. it is controlled by governemnts, economies and populations.

Perhaps that's the real reason behind the 'War on Terror". We're not gonna be the beggars this time in case of an oil crisis.

I look forward to the future. Humans have faced a lot of problems in the past 70,000 years. We have adapted to new situations, thrived in extreme conditions and will continue to make our lives happier and healthier.

Necessity is the mother of invention. When oil is truly about to run out and quite possibly long before, new energy technology will be developed. The future does not give a precise road map on how our lives will improve, but 70,000 years of human hisory gives us an outstanding track record with no reason to believe humans will stop thinking, creating and triumphing.
