I know when I was a JW we never celebrated but I cant remember ever reading anything anywhere why it was bad. Did they just lump it in withh all holidays?
Can JW's celebrate Mother's Day? why not

See gumby's post, Pwned. He's got a nice little history of Mother's Day there.

Pagan origins, "worldly holiday", ties to Christendom, glorification of puny humans...whole host of reasons JW's don't celebrate. I don't have any of my JW books handy (all boxed and in storage) to be able to cite specifics à la WBTS.

I heard that "You aren't supposed to put your mother on a pedestal". It's like worshipping her.
However, you can take her out the day before or after Mother's day, and it's okay.
HEY!! WAIT A MINUTE !! Isn't that the same thing?

I did for a little while, because I couldn't find anything on it. Then the School Brochure came out and there was a little blurb in it.
