SEVERAL YEARS BACK WE HAD SOME SPECIAL PIONEERS SENT TO OUR CONGREGATION WHERE THE NEED WAS GREAT.

THEY HAD TO MAKE THEIR 150 HOURS TO RECEIVE THEIR $50.00. THAT FIGURED OUT TO 33 CENTS PER HOUR. OF COURSE THEY HAD TO PAY FOR THE GAS IN THEIR CAR, PLUS THEIR OWN FOOD IF NO ONE GAVE THEM ANY!

I DON'T KNOW HOW MUCH THEY ARE GIVEN TODAY, BUT WITH GAS AT $2 TO $2.50 A GALLON, I WONDER IF SOME ARE HAVING SECOND THOUGHTS ABOUT SIGNING UP.

CONVINCE PEOPLE THAT THE ORGANIZATION SPEAKS FOR GOD AND THEY WILL DO STRANGE THINGS!

I do however remember having a Special Pioneer in our hall in Hamilton, and everyone took turns bringing her supper.

How would a special pioneer have money for rent though?

Good point! I think special pio's are the worst treated out of everyone, especially since they are usually single middle-aged women, who have to rely on everyone's charity, even though they are working their butts off!!

You really have to be under mind control pretty deep to be a special pioneer. I feel sorry for those poor souls. Just go to show you how far the Governing Body will stoop in even allowing it.

I didn't know they got paid. I thought they had to do it all on their own. (not that $50.00 would get them far. Sheesh!) My mom moved to Tenessee, where the need was great, and regular pioneered with 5 kids and NO husband barely living on child support and she did not get help from the society.
