The man shown has hair long enough to tuck behind his ears and long enough in the back to throw any elder I know into a tizzy.
Lest you say that the Swedish fellow is merely "interested" and not a member, look closely. He is wearing a convention badge, as are all those pictured in this grouping.

Because he is an "ethnic", he is granted dispensation from one of those "commands of men" (Matt. 15:9).
This man is clearly only studying, as can be deduced by his smiling face.

Here is another JW hypocrisy. ?Cultural variation? is tolerated with new ones and when the ?truth? is being established in new communities.
However, as time goes on, gradually the Society introduces the one size fits all approach. The CO starts clamping down on local variances and the congregation become JW Westernised.
How do I know? Seen it firsthand when serving as an elder in a developing country.

He gets away with it 'cause it's ethnic, in'it? Anyhow, it's Viking land; long hair, music that debases, and hats with horns all have ablind-eye turned to them, which is rather appropriate if you know anything about Norse mythology...
But, yeah, the ethnic thing. How long do you think a white sister could get away with corn rows? Admittedly 'fros and dredlocks are frowned upon, but they are seen as 'worldly trends' or 'religiously influenced'. But white people with black hair? Nah; my ex-wife got bollocked for it. But black women can have white hair, and any teenage boy going to a Cong with teenage black sisters can have great fun ripping off the baseball caps they all cram over their hair after going swimming, as the hair stops being white all of a sudden! LOL
It's when I think about the profound levels of stupidity Witnesses achieve that I wonder how any of us could have ever believed it.
A missionary came back on holiday from Papua to our Cong once. He got on the platfom in a short skirt, a lai? or something like that, that was common attire where he was living. Apparently, just as with kilts on Scotsmen and ribes on West Africans, it is acceptable... although a suit jacket and shirt should be worn with it, of course
It's good news for people of all the (other) nations. But don't try that in your own (industrialized) nation.
That's cause it's out of fashion.. Gotta remain 30 years behind. He's got flares and a white belt too.
