Four Years and Then?

I took my wife out for breakfast this morning and on the way back home as we walked through the park about 10:30 am, we saw the group doing park witnessing. I approached two elders and greeted them, this, after four years of not hearing anything from them. It was just as if it was yesterday, nothing has changed. We miss you, come to the meetings, here is the schedule. Come to the District Convention during the July Fourth weekend. We took some magazines, six issues, and the new brochure released at last year's convention which they are studying now at the bookstudy. Each one wanted us to come to their bookstudy! I use to conduct at our home, as I was a Elder back then. Stepped down and faded away.

Nothing was said about our being inactive. Where are you working now? I'm a floater, I could be anywhere at anytime. Oh, give me your phone number, so we exchanged numbers.

And then, guess what? It's time to get a cup of coffee , I kid you not!

So we parted. I am expecting a phone call, shepherding call sometime soon.

I am not ready to go toe to toe just yet . Btw, the sisters gave us a big hug, not just a hand shake, even though I just held out my hand respectfully, no handshake, you get a big hug, we missed you.

I've had the same thing before, but haven't seen any of them for about 2 years now. "We miss you, come back." But what about the the previous 4 years? They miss us about as much as we miss them. The only difference is.........they are so SHALLOW.

From the JWs perspective, you must have seemed like a lost sheep. There's one way to tell if the hugs were genuine: In their presence, exhibit even a hint of being able to now think for yourself. My, how those JWs will vanish!

do you find you start doubting your decision to fade when they act like that? I do, not that i would ever go back. es

When people are unexpectedly nice to me - whether they be JWs or others - I acknowledge how it can unsettle me. However, since I know how robotically wafer-thin the JW "niceness" is, I quickly come to my senses.

JWs are experts at being so "nice" to lost souls, but as soon as those lost souls begin to assert themselves, the JW "niceness" evaporates only to be replaced by the repulsive switching off of any "Christian" love.
