If you haven't read Freakonomics, by all means do so. It's a fascinating book.
One particular story concerns one brave man who defeated the Klu Klux Klan. His name was Stetson Kennedy
and came from a long line of racists. He was appalled when his black nurse was beaten and raped after
complaining she was short changed.
He decided to infiltrate the Klan and after finding out all their secrets, ran into enormous frustration because
there seemed to be no way to hurt them. They controlled local politicians and law enforcement people all across
the South. They seemed invincible.
He got the idea of exposing them by using the Adventures Of Superman radio show. Soon, episodes
were appearing that used the exact passwords and secret terms of the Klan. Little Southern kids
started running around playing Superman as a gangbuster against the Klan. Kennedy had converted
"precious knowledge into ammunition for mockery". He singlehandledly prevented the expansion of the
Klan, leaving it with a negative image, that would be used by civil rights workers later.
Stetson Kennedy - one determined man - made a difference. He "understood the raw power of
information". ( see Freakonomics, pg 57-66).
I continue to believe that one man - or one woman - with the right information and drive could bring
the Watchtower crashing down - its misrule of ignorance and disregard for justice ended.
With the right opportunity and creative thought, it could happen.
