    The Pretender

A rising star at The New York Times, Michael Finkel had just lost his job after fabricating a story. But just as he was sinking into depression, Finkel got a strange call from a reporter in Oregon asking what he knew about a man named Christian Longo, who had been charged with killing his wife and three children.
Wanted for the murders, Longo had fled to Mexico, and, while hiding out, he'd pretended to be Finkel, even assuming the role of reporter. Correspondent Maureen Maher reports for "The Pretender," Tuesday at 10 p.m. ET/PT.

I thought you'd want to know!

edited to add: ps, this past sunday's paper here in Salem Oregon, they had an article about Finkle doing a book on Christian Longo called "True Story".

Yeah, I saw a brief lead in on the news last night.

For those who don't know, Christian Longo moved his family to Oregon after being DF'd to escape meddling JW relatives. He was a scheemer and a liar. He finally killed his two children, by drowning, and his wife. He was too chicenshit to off himself, so he moved to mexico and took this other guy's identity. He was finally caught when someone visiting Cancun recognized him.

I say hang him by the family jewels.

I wounder if they will bring out some of his cultic beleifs and how they influenced his actions to make it understandable to the mainly nonJW audience?

Well I watched it, it was such a tragic story. That guy lied his way the whole time. They did not even mention they were JW's, all the CBS show said was that they had met at the local congregation. I would almost bet that the only way the family would agree to talk was if they did not mention about the kingdom hall. If they had been Catholics or Baptists or anything else they would have showed a picture of the Church. What more can be said but it was an awful horrible thing to do to his wife and kids. I just wish they had mentioned more of the religious aspect. I wonder what Christian Longo told Michael Finkel? I wonder if there were things told to him that didnt make sense? Anybody else see the show and what were your views on it?

I must clarify myself here, when I said that guy had lied the whole time, I was refering to Christian Longo, not the attorneys, Michael Finkel, the reporters, investigators or anyone else. Christian Longo was the Liar and had perfected the art of lying. What a sad way to end a family.

(obviously) I saw it too. What a disappointment! The WTS lucked out in having thier precious "image" besmirched (as they would say)

    Longo: Perfect upbringing---perfect parents---perfect marriage---perfect dad---perfect bastard.
