Years ago when I was still an active witness, I happened across a phone number in the 'book' under Jehovahs Witnesses. I called and it was a recorded message for witnesses, but it was an anti-witness message. The message at the time compared what the Watchtower teaches about the meaning of one of the verses in Revelation and exposed it as a lie. At the time, I was in shock and was too embarassed to tell anyone I had listened to what I had realized to be an 'apostate' trick. lol

Does anyone know who owns and operates the "message for Jehovah's Witnesses" phone number out of northern ca? I think it's a Eureka number...

At any rate, whoever it is, thank you. That message gave me the first serious, "Hmmmm..." in my mind in regard to the accuracy of the witness belief system. I still think about it from time to time and smile.

Before I reply about the telephone number I'd like to get more information on the issue at hand. I'm not really sure, if I know who the number belongs too. You see there are many Anti-watchtower information on the net and phones, mostly give account on revelations and compare of what the wt teach.

Would you give me more detail on it? thank you.......

    Sure!

It was, I believe, 1992. I had my doubts at the time but it was more about abuses and hypocrisy rather than doctrinal issues. I was looking up phone numbers for local Kingdom Halls on the Northern Ca. Coast when I sas a phone number that just said "Jehovahs Witnesses" and since it was a number that looked like a Eureka, Ca number I called.

The message that came up was complicated and I don't even remember exactly what it was about. However I do remember that it had to do with the location of the "throne" mentioned in Revelation and whether or not that throne was located in Heaven or on Earth. The society at the time took the position that the throne was located on earth, the the evidence presented clearly established it in Heaven. I spent weeks researching all of the publications trying to disprove it and finally came across something very, very weak in the Aid Book that tried to address the issue but it was laughable.

After that, a lot of inconsistencies started showing up and I was more open to the possibility that they did not know what the hell they were talking about...

I never called the number again and don't even know if it is still in operation, but come to think of it, the influence of that message really helped me see the light in the long run even though it scared the crap out of me at the time...

When it scares you..I believe that's what it's suppose to do.But then again it makes one think. Why? Since I, almost became one...last 17 questions to go""""" I know many witnesses will go to great length to state something is wrong when the watchtower says otherwise. The problem is when one asks a question not even the watchtower can answer, it's commettee time.

As for the phone number I'm aware of a 800 number for those who are struggling in the Watchtower. I love each JW for staying so strong in their idea of the truth. They really seek the truth. The more JWs I know the more I really hate the Watchtower of what their doing.

Jehovah God is not isolated in one place. He's everywhere at all times. The Watchtower is strong. With Jehovah God and prayer I know who's the greatest then all.

Bless you jeannie....ask any question and we'll all try...

Just called the above number. It is still in effect. Gives some instructions if you need help and refers you to http://www.brci.org. You can leave your name, phone number and address and a packet will be sent to you. It then gives a brief message at the end.

    Elsewhere,

Thanks! That was pretty cool. The message is very calm, so I don't think it would overly scare a questioning jw away. Their web-site, especially the FAQ's explains why so many x-jw's need this help. They give a good peek into what a JC meeting can be like.

THIS # 1-800-Why-1914 can easily be remembered. THIS could be one of those things included on the check or notes that people are planning on putting out at the District Conventions this year !
