While they are members of the Church of God, they will accept blood transfusions only if they come from the mother. So, it appears that the refusal is based not on religion but personal beliefs. Maybe they feel that "outside" blood might be possible contaminated or bear diseases. I can't help but wonder why blood from the father would not be permitted (at least the article doesn't include him as a possible candidate donor).

Thats what I wondered. Even though she wasn't a jw, this is kind of hopefully goes to show what they may do in the case of a jw who would not accept blood when the medically need it. At least I hope anyway.
