WHY oh WHY are you going to the elders for advice instead of to the police?

I was raised in the truth, but if my child was molested by a 'JW' there isn't a mountain high enough to prevent me from filing charges and prosecuting.

WHY please tell me, are you contacting the 'congregation elders' for advice?

You are abusing (albeit unknowingly) your child for the second time.

I'm a mother of 2 girls that thank God have never been molested or abused. I can understand why a parent would go to the elders for help. I totally believed that the org was the TRUTH. I really thought it was directed by Jehovah and that the elders had Jehovahs holy spirit. I BELIEVED IT WHOLE SOULED. THats why I believe its a CULT. I would have (at one time) probably took any Bullshit advice they gave me. Think about it.... Parents disown their own children. JW's shun people they love. They make incredible sacrifices and are willing to die before taking blood ect. If they believe Jehovah will handle the problem they may not do whats best for the child that is a victim. Why does that surprise anyone ??????

If I were a pedophile, do you think I would try for the child of a parent like yourelf, or the child of a parent who is also submissive and passive, unsophisticated and unaware of teh ways of pedophiles, given my druthers?

And the definition of a molester's 'victim's is not just limited to the recipient of his/her actions. The family and community are victims too. When a child is hurt, we all are hurt.

In a perfect world, thre would be no molestation victims of any kind. And if there are victims, they should have a close friend like you, Lisa to advocate FOR them. Alas, it is so seldom the case....

Jurs, I guess it's just that I can't understand it, I would be at the police station so fast it would make your head spin.

My father was retired cop tho so maybe that makes a difference, although he is an elder.

Does anyone know of any JW who has gone to the police first, and then the elders?

It sure would add a lot more credibility to the molestation charges, I think.

Gsark, I guess you are right. Even in the animal kingdom, predators know who they are looking for. It's no different in the human world, is it?

It bothers me that I do understand. It shakes me up knowing how brainwashed I was. I'm not excusing JW parents who don't report to the police. I am uncomfortable thinking about how I would have handled the situation when I was "spiritually strong".

gsark, thank you for the lovely words.

I am a CASA, court-appointed special advocate for children. I also teach parenting skills one night a week for a local non-profit. You wouldn't beleive how many parents think it's ok to hit and hurt their children, and allow them to be supervised by people I wouldn't leave my pet goldfish with.

My husband often reminds me I 'can't parent every child' but I sure wish I could. No child would be abused or molested. I'd like to get my hands on a child molester, just once.

BTW, it's not only men. In our old cong, there was a woman who was a day-care provider and of course, babysat a lot of witness kids. She had fun poking hangers into little girls vaginas and teaching her 8 year old son to penetrate them with his fingers while changing diapers.

    Can you imagine?

    Lisa
