Will WTS Use 'Gang of Four' Defense?

  Suppose a big organization gets into trouble with
  corrupt, stupid leadership and needs to make big changes.

  One way to fix the mess is to round up a bunch of
  scapegoats in the leadership, imprison them (executing
  them is better) and blame them for everything, telling
  the masses that "new leadership" will now make everything
  right.

  Hey, Bethel! Does this sound like a plan?
  Could you salvage the organization by sacrificing a few
  old farts? Could you drag them out of bed at 2am,
  form a judicial committee and boot them out the front
  door by 3am? Could you pin all the lawsuits on them
  personally?

  Disfellowshipping them quickly would silence them
  and cut them off from rank and file publishers, so
  that all blame could be placed on them by indirect
  references to their activities in the Watchtower
  (you know what I mean, the ambiguous kind that doesn't get you sued)

  Here's another thought to consider:
  When changes are made in committees and personel,
  often the authority and personal power of the newly appointed
  is unclear or not precisely defined- for a while. This gives
  some of you at Bethel the opportunity to take quick, decisive
  action to save the organization further embarrassment. You could
  act while things are still "fluid" - understand?

  Well, Bethel lurkers and internet monitors,
  All I can say is
  You better act fast.
  You need to "get ahead" of events to save
  your beloved organization!

  Metatron, I think it's too late for the organization - thank God. I think their ass is grass and now it's only a question of time until the final denouement.

  It may happen in slow motion, but - as noted previously - evil contains within it the seed of its own destruction, and the organization of Jehovah's Witnesses is evil pure and simple, and its destruction is assured.

  'Gang of Four' being a reference to the four politburo members that vied for rule after the passing of Mao Tse-Tung, including his wife, Madame Mao. (i just finished reading Becoming Madame Mao by Anchee Min. Its frightening to think that people as manipulative as her could exist.)

  But, to the point, this seems like a likely scenario on some level, tho it seems like it would just serve as a forestallment rather than a precursor to major reform.

  Good sugestion. Maybe they could pin the blame on several deceased or senile insiders. They wouldn'tbe able to complain if they wanted to.

  Francoise, you clearly expect the imminent demise of the org. While I do expect it to make some fairly drastic changes in the near future, I personally doubt whether it will really implode. Religions are resilient. People believe because they want to. It makes them feel better. FACTS ARE NOT AN ISSUE WITH SOME PEOPLE(MAYBE MOST PEOPLE). Remember 1975? 1914-1925? Carl Sagan had an interesting remark about Rutherford. He said that the whole episode was proof that there is something very near the heart of religion that is suprisingly resistant to rational inquiry.(my paraphrase). Let's hope that the new and improved version will be a far more benign, less controlling religion.

  Doesn't matter who gets sacrified on the altar of expediency, although there are those who will do so to save their own skin.

  It's about exposure.

  Corporate changes and window dressing make no difference.

  Wouldn't you love to see each of the gerontocrats who make policy being cross-examined before a jury, with the court stenographer making a record for the world to hear?

  Oh, let's not put them up because they are old and confused? Let's put up the weary faces of each person in the Service Department. Every single one. And some of you goons attached to Legal, you hear me? You have blitzkrieged your way through people's lives far too long and bragged about it too much.

  There is a paper trail that you have not been able to eradicate with all your shredding. There are smoking guns ....
