THE BIGGEST HASSLE ON PLANET EARTH?

I have just been faced with a huge hassle.

My Internet Service Provider (AOL) isn't going to support BROADBAND DSL anymore.

I've been forced to get the service elsewhere. So, I changed to Charter Cable locally.

Now, I have changed my e-mail account to [email protected].

I ALSO HAVE TO CHANGE EVERYTHING!!

Bank accounts, credit card accounts, listserves, Paypal, Ebay, yadda yadda.

How do I change the JWD e-mail?

Most of these things are a huge hassle.

There has to be a better way.

Whoever comes up with an easy way to do all this will have a great service.

    Any suggestions?

I got a web-based email service (I use yahoo, but I hear gmail is good too) and use that addy for accounts and things. Haven't had to change anything for six years now and I'm on my 5th isp (so far so good with Yahoo/DSL).

sorry Terry, but you have to change these things because your email address has changed? can't you just go in to each of the accounts and update your email address? or is that what you mean?

if so, there is no easy way around this that i am aware of.

the suggestion to use an online web mail account is an excellent one, in my opinion. gmail is by far, by far, the best webmail service out there. you get over 2 GB of web space for free, and i find it very user friendly. i'll send you an invitation to your charter.net account. this way, if you move, or switch services again, you don't have to worry about your email account.

    Yes, exactly!

One by one...by one by one.....ad infinitum! I have so many accounts everywhere that I can't even remember them all. It is a hand's on, brute force process in changing these things.

Especially the credit card and money-related accounts are security conscious and make you jump through hoops to get any changes verified. Sigh.

Thanks for the head's up on the Gmail. I actually don't like the format of the MSN mail, Hotmail, Charter's mail, etc. Maybe Gmail will be just the ticket.

    Many thanks.

Things would be much more easy if earth's gravity was only 1/4th its current strength.

Terry...so you would prefer to just change you email and password info at one place and it would update all your accounts and what not eh? What happens if they hack that one site. They then have access to your bank accounts, email, JWD id, and everything else. Be careful what you wish for !

I was thinking more of a central site you could go to that would change everything for you.

You could create your own password matrix; but, everything else would be automatic.

    I'm dreaming; I know!

What a pleasant and novel dream that is! I think there's definitley something in that though. What a pain in the bum it is when you move, change isp, webmail account, to have to go around and do all that ammending, it's so tiresome. True though something of this nature has serious implications for exploitation.

...I'm slow on the uptake today, what did he mean by this?? frog
