what's the jw take on father's day? My wife's jw and I've got two stepkids and one bio kid. Every holiday is awkward because wife lets me "celebrate" with the kids as long as she doesn't actively participate. Seems like the kids have made me a card the last couple of years. Can't get a straight answer from the wife about anything, just need to know if it's going to be weird this Sunday.

Hi & welcome.
Father's day is prohibited for jws to participate in. Your wife is allowed to eat a meal with you & do miscellaneous things (ie shop for the holiday meal food) if you give her a directive to do so. However, she can't actively celebrate it herself, which in this case means giving you a gift herself or wishing you a happy Father's Day.

Thanks. I'm curious as to how far the power of giving my wife "directives" reaches.

Hmmm....so maybe George can give a directive on their anniversary, that he doesn't believe God wants us to celebrate it; would her eyes open up at all to the stupidity of the holiday ban by the WTS? (they are allowed to celebrate anniversaries, but since he is head of household, he could put his foot down on her only real holiday and see how it feels!)
just my thoughts,
