Did anyone catch the new series 30 Days by Morgan Spurlock the other night? I loved his documentary on McDonalds in Supersize Me. I had to buy it in fact.
For anyone who hasn't heard of it yet, the premise of the show is to put people(and himself) into an almost opposite position of what they are used to. In the first show, Morgan and his fiance moved to Columbus, OH for a month to see if they could live on minimum wage. For me, it opened my eyes even more to the fact that so many people in the world are in the same circumstances and how hard it is to make ends meet. They went there with no credit cards and practically no money. They moved into an apartment with no furniture right above what used to be a crack dealers apartment - bad neighborhood.
Without giving it all away, I would say FX has a winner here. Learning about how other people live, what you can do to help, and learning to accept other people's differences. Finally, what reality television should really be about.
If the rest of the series comes close to being better than this first episode, wow. Morgan has done it again.
