I'm confused...JW teaches that the dead will be resurrected and live in new world (simplified of course for this purpose) and Nicene creed at end says "look forward to the resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come" So, scriptually, does this mean that there may be a resurrection of the dead upon the earth? I'm not sure how old the Nicene Creed is...just strange that this line is even in it considering that Catholic church teaches that our soul (if good) goes to heaven when we die (again simplified). Anyone have any thoughts on the subject? Thanks!
JW belief and Catholic Nicene Creed: resurrection of the dead

The soul living apart from the body is not incompatible with the concept of a resurrection. NT writers believed in an intermediate state of the immaterial soul between death and resurrection. Resurrection is when the soul is united again with a body. JWs teach annihilation and re-creation of the soul/body, without continuity of existance.

Catholics aren't the only denomination that recites the Nicene Creed, many Christian denominations do.

Thanks M.J. I will read what's on those sites. the_classicist - I didn't know that other Christian denominations recited the Nicene Creed. I was raised a Catholic for 14 years before parents became involved with JW...haven't explored other Christian denominations as yet.
