Before the Internet became available to the public, say around 1993/1994, was there JW material on any of the old bulletin boards?

Did it go back as far as the 80s?

It would be intersting to get a "history" of when JW material (for and against), began to appear in electronic form.

Just to answer this question: Yes, before that date there was information out there, but you had to SUBSCRIBE to a mailing list. That's how I found "Philia." This was before the Internet became graphics capable. There was a book put out that described how to subscribe to the different mailing lists, their addresses, and what they were for. I was surprised to find an XJW one. I think the lists were held on a server at Brown University, and then whenever someone would post it came to everyone's mailbox. Philia became a tight little group. As far as I remember there were several posters on there that are here today: Randy from Freeminds; Kent Steinhaug; Jan Haugland; James Penton; Scully; AlanF; and others.

What I believe was the first Apostofest was held here in Austin Texas in 1995 <?> or so. Lots of people from H2O and thereabouts. We had a nice time.... and UNBAPTIZED two elders from Dallas by puttin them in the bathtub, heads underwater.. heheheh. That was a fun time....

There may have been. I seem to recall Fidonet having a religious message board when I was going through the list of what I wanted on my BBS. I decided against it since I wanted nothing more to do with religion at that time.
