For sometime now I have been aware that nursing homes / retirement homes for the exclusive use of JW's have been springing up all over the UK.
Known as "Jah-Jireh" (translates as Jehovah will provide) homes for the elderley, these establishments have been set up as business enterprises by wealthy dubs.
Any witness can apply to be cared for in a Jah-Jireh home. However, the custodians of these places will only accept ageing witnesses who have a very long and active record of field service. Also, the elders of each applicants congregation have to submit their opinion as to whether an applicant is considered to be a worthy candidate.
Once a dub is installed in a Jah-Jireh home, it will cost him between £350 - £500 per week to live there until he dies. (Around $500 -$700 per week). This is for light nursing care only.
British law demands that nursing home patients pay there own way until their money runs out. So most dubs will have to sell their home as a first move - average selling price is £110,000 - About $170,000 -which will return about 4-5 years care. After this the State will pay for light nursing care until death.
As a footnote, I live in an area that has many large houses that have been converted into nursing homes. I also know many of the proprietors. They are incredibly wealthy people who even receive commission from funeral directors.
Certainly, it is a dying business!
