I was brought up a catholic, then learned as a baptised adventist in my teens that the Pope was the anti-christ, and that only we were the one true remnant church etc. The adventists did have true Christian love, even if they were somewhat misguided. When I drifted away from religion, I still refused to marry in my wife's catholic church. I am still indoctrinated as anti-catholic. However, partly thanks to you folks, I look at all beliefs differently now. Tonight I went to a wonderful meeting at the Catholic school my daughter will start in September. I like the school prayer:

    This is our school,

    Let peace dwell here.

Let the rooms be full of joy.

    Let love abide here:

    Love of learning,

    Love of one-another,

    Love of all people,

    Love of life itself

    and love of God

    Let us remember that

As many hands build a house

So many Hearts make a school.

i sent my son to a catholic school after being one of jw's. i found the school to be so postive and upbuilding. he didn't like mass and some of the rituals but thrived in a controlled enviroment. i was impressed with the school's vision and the staff's thoughtful prayers. he just graduated from high school and did well. thanks for sharing your story. best wishes with your daughter's education.

Sound like positive and upbuilding statements, your daughter will do well if they put into practice their rhetoric

A morman friend of mine sends their 6 year old son to catholic school. They love it. Disciplened, yet loving instruction with an emphasis on excellence. They can also talk about God without the ACLU breathing down their throat. (although they do miss the excitiment of the daily "fights" at the public school.)

This goes to show that there is much better quality life outside the org, useful for those jws thinking that outside everything is worthless and satanc.

The WTS always point out the negative things, to drive people in their org as a "civilised safe place", and they ignore all the good things out there.

Wow! I'm shocked at this statement. Are they practicing Mormons?? Cause I thought they were as strict as Dubs were about other religions and inter-faith stuff...........

    Frog,

I dislike catholic mass, statues etc, but they don't worship statues & crosses. My 15 year old son is at an all boys catholic school, and yes they put these ethich into practice. I am very impressed. They talk about Christian love, not religious dogma. They have just been allowed to have a second specialism and have chosen performing arts. They put on high quality musicals like Grease and Guys and Dolls. Great stuff.

My favourite line in the prayer reminds me of what sets them a part from JWs.

    Love of all people,

The kids and teachers quietly and unnoticed do loads of work for charities and good causes. Believe me, although I can never go back to catholicism, these are truly Christian people, despite the dodgy history and some practices.
