Recycled Topics.

Have we reached the saturation point? Are there any new topics on life and death, evolution, creation, God etc., or are we just recycling these kind of topics? I know that as each new person comes aboard, they may ask the same questions on topics that have been talked about here over and over and that's very much needed for them.

As I search the archives, including my own topics, I find that we pretty much have said what we have to say on many given topics, and so we leave it at that, and wait and see what the future holds for us. Also there is acceptance that some topics are unanswerable for now and that two schools of thoughts will always be spoken for.

However, each day brings new people to the forum who do share with us their life experiences, trials , tribulations, hopes and joys, and these experiences are not recycable topics.

I for one am not tired of coming to this forum and reading recycled topics, for one never knows what one will learn from something others have posted.

I'm glad you asked this. Maybe you can help this newbie and others! I'm thinking of posting a question (when I get time) but I've no idea whether its been asked before, is there an easy way of finding out other than trawling through all the lists? I tried using the search facility but its out of action at the moment - so I'm still not sure what it will search for!!

Emo this forum has been going for 5 years, you shouldn't bother with checking what topics were run before you just post your ones, there are always new people that will find the redone topic interesting and perhaps add new ideas. At worst not many will answer to the topic if they got fed up with it.

Yes, things may have been discussed before but they are not articles that are published, they are conversations to take part in, so it's always valid for new people to discuss what may already have been talked about.

There are often new things that people can bring to a discussion.

As long as there is news, there will be new discussion on this board. And yes, I do see that Simon is still posting here, so I might be wise to edit my post in my other thread before he deletes me.

I'd have to say a resounding "no" on this one! Newbies come here and carry their own concerns and questions, and need answers and support. What may be "old" to lots of us, may be startlingly new to those who are just breaking free from the WTS bondage and the dictates that are NOT "bible-based" (tm)!

If some of the topics seem old-hat, then don't read them! It's as simple as that! I know how I cringe when someone comes here and asks something that WE have discussed what seems like forever, but to have someone else posts back and makes a comment on how many times this has been talked about "before"---it makes me feel bad. We have to remember how WE felt when we first came here or a DB of this type, and how confused and upset WE were at the time.

Good grief---I was a JW for 30 years coming and going, and "out" since '99, and I still have questions about certain beliefs or policies that were imposed on us when I was still believing it all.

It's always nice to be as accommodating to others with our advice and our accurate knowledge of the WTS and how it works! Seeing just ONE person "see" the new light of freedom makes OUR day---AND theirs!

Lots of things have been said before...but the flavor and nuances change based on the participants.

If it's the first time you've heard it, it's new to you. That is where the newbies get help is in hearing stuff for the first time that may be old hat to us. I don't reply to as many topics as I used to, but if I see something that I think is important I'll voice my opinion or experience even if I've said it several times before. There will always be someone out there who will benefit from hearing it for the first time.
