Question on yearbook stats

In the yearbooks, the ratio of publishers to general population is given. This figure obviously changes each year. It's interesting to see how in some countries, despite an absolute increase which the wt crows about, the publisher ratio shows they are really losing ground.

The question: does anyone know where the wt get the figures for the total general population? Is it the national censuses (censii?)?

    G'day expat,

Notice that the figs are 'rounded to thousands'; therefore not exact census figs. My understanding is that they are 'guesstimates" i.e. your guess is as good as mine.

    Cheers,
    Ozzie
