My friend says that chied Elder told him that when a person is Disfellowshipped,

the new announcement will say "Brother Joe Smo" is no longer one of Jehovah's Witnesses!

My friend asked why is this change? The Elder says that by stating so, the condemnation is worse!

As a result new "Disfellowshipping" will last longer in time!

I told my friend this was a move to avoid legal trouble, he does not believe me

Interesting. Any info on why the disfellowshipping period will last longer? Does this mean the punishment will be even harsher than now?

of the (just in case I ever want to be reinstated class)

I was about to ask "if this is the new rule, then why don't these (no longer JW's) have to be re-baptized"?

If that is true, that DFing will last longer, then it is not a written rule unless it has been transmitted through a BOE letter, verbal if through the CO. Nothing in the pubs available to the rank and file say that.

All disfellowshipping punishments according to the Witness people is a death sentence. Then a Witness with the death sentence is expected to try to improve on her death sentence by doing what was tough on a good day while being snubbed and shunned. If a Witness submits to the snubbing and attends group meetings while being shunned and if she grovels and if she begs to the elders, she may get a pardon and be let off death row and she can return to the regular prison.
Witness should publish a uniform sentence directive. Like for sex sin, a day of shunning per stroke.

So does that mean if an UN-JW wants to come back they will announce "So and so is a JW?" Do they have to get rebaptized? Will they announce all Baptisms as "So and so is a JW?" Nice public declaration.
    Inquiring minds want to know.

I predicted this very thing would happen several years ago. I stated that the society would move away from using the word disfellowshiped and towards using the word disassociated in all or almost all cases. Why? I mean, let's face it, the results are the same: a death sentence in dubland. It's for legal and public relations reasons, but still gives the WTS the ability to have the velvet glove over the iron hand. No matter what one does, if one breaks a WT rule and is "unrepentent", the org. can say, "By your conduct, you've shown you no longer want to be a dub, so that's what we're going to tell everyone."

Sure it's for legal reasons...over and over we see examples of the org turning into big time corporate religion/business.and like any business they want to protect their assets and fend off any potential legal troubles. I remember the good old days...sister so and so has been disfellowshipped for fornication...

The end result is the same for the person and their family

Have you noticed how little the org does for the flock out of genuine love and compassion?

Behind the pretty pictures, they (GB) have hearts of solid formica...
