I finally have a date for my Social Security Disability Hearing. Aug. 9th.

It's only been 2-1/2 years since I filed (Jan 21st 2003). I have an appt with my atty's office Tuesday 26th to go over my medical records and get a game plan.

    I'm scared.

I'm afraid I will be denied.... again.

This is my last official resort to the application denial/approval process.

If I loose this, my atty will have to sue the government.

Before I could always say "well, it's in the works at Social Security, and I'm jumping their hoops".

You're prayers, good thoughts, well wishes for a possitive (win) outcome are requested.

    Please?

    Thank you.

Thank you for your support Damselfly.

The stress of no income and having to be dependent on my boyfriend is an incredible change for me from when I was independent and worked hard after overcoming being a HS dropout and a JW wife crap.

But the no income has been really tough, and a drain on Kevan, too, as he pays my medical co-pays, medicines, and the tax on my portion of his health insurance (fed vs state BS).

SSD, as small as it will be, will take a big load off.

Oh, (((((Brenda)))) I know how that is. Is this your first hearing? The docs they send an applicant to are really difficult to sway. It seems their job is to discredit anyone applying for SSI/SSD unless they're in a wheelchair or obviously blind or bedridden. They usually have to be appealed the first time around.

My thoughts and good wishes go with you hon. I had to appear before a social security agent to help a friend of mine get reinstated, because after YEARS of being disabled because she'd had meningitis which caused her to lose her hearing and balance, the local docs they sent her to in order to verify her recertification (?????) decided she could work. I was a witness for her disability and we overcame what the docs said because I went with her to the docs and testified that a certain doc had NOT done certain required tests to determine her disabilities.

My understanding is that they normally don't give it out on first request. My wife was denied even though she was off work going through chemo. She appeal the desicion and was finally granted it. It was retroactive back when she first applied of it.

I guess I should add that she was back at work by the time she receive the money but anyways she got it.
