I see all kinds of settlements in the news re Catholic priest and their behavior. The diocese has to cough up millions.
How about the Witney's? Has the Society every had to cough up a dime yet? How about a local congregation?

Well, in legal fees, yes, but in actual damages awarded to anyone, no.
Actually, I know a family that did get a settlement. The WTS settled out of court after a civil suit was filed. The problem is that the terms of the settlement were that the victim and family could not talk about it. I wonder if this has happened with others?
I'm sure the WTS is quick to settle out of court with a confidentiality clause.

I believe it's how they organize everything.
I heard today that the Salvation Army can treat it's members like slaves b/c they claim to have a "spiritual relationship" to an organization instead of an employed one whereas priests are paid a salary by the diocese (though, priests are considered "self-employed" by the IRS for some reason).
