This was said to me by my mother in the heat of an arguement where she was trying to impress on me that I should show respect to her no matter how she treats me:

"You'll understand about respecting your parents when you're older." WTF!!

So I said to her: "Mother (she hates it when I call her Mother ), how old do you think I am? Did you forget that I'm 40?

Do you guys have any crazy stuff that your parents have said to you?

Similar mrsjones5, but I don't regard this as crazy but insightful (quote, my Mum) - ''I've been YOUR age, but you've never been MY age.''

"I never thought I'd grow old in this system of things."

(the quote really isn't that crazy -- just the belief system behind it.)

"Your father and I always liked your sister best"

:P~ j/k. I say stuff like that to my daughter, but she just calmly reminds me that she's an only child.

My grandmother said to me a few months ago as I was dropping her off after taking her to dinner, "Goodnight Hodgkin's".
I said, "uh, that's a disease", to which she says, "yeah, and there's a cure".
That was all about me not being a jw anymore.

    I got one....

I called my parents and talked to them for the first time in several years. They are elderly, and I had heard though the grape fine that my dad had just recently sufferd a stroke. I got afraid that I would never get to talk to him before he died or something. So it took several days, but I finally got my courage up and called.........Anyway...

I asked my dad how he's been doin? and he said...

"Well....I find my self thinking alot about the hear after?

My heart started pounding...what a strange thing for a JW to say....

    then he said....

"Well, when I walk in to a room, and I say to myself...What am here after?"

That is so cute. I find myself doing that too.
