I'm impressed with the way everyone accepts the fact of gossip and bitchiness as a fact with no argument! This is the "Earthly Paradise"??
And isn't it funny that the Dubs are being stingy in the one area where they are allowed to give gifts...
Q: How do you know a Dub loyal to "Jehovah's Organisation" is lying?
A: Their lips are moving. -

My favorite comment:
Try to focus on the love you have for each other, and remember that it's your obligation to be submissive. So after talking this through, getting his feelings, and airing yours, you really need to, lovingly, bow to his wishes, and help your family understand. Difficult? Yes, but worth the effort because this may very well set the tone for your whole married life.
I'll say it will set the tone for her whole married life! Her idiot fiance is allowing his friends to meddle in their lives and give stupid advice. Instead of standing up to this idiots and telling them to mind their own business, this cowering example of manhood is turning to his fiance and saying to cool it with the parties. Given this, what advice does she get? "Bow to his wishes." Setting the tone for her whole married life indeed!

Not that being subject to your husband is wrong--it's the way God wants it, but NOT the way the WT uses it!!!
The WT uses it as "HE takes out the group, HE handles talks, HE does the sound, etc., so bow to him because HE's an elder or MS, not you, you worthless chick! Just make him look good by going to the meetings and going out in service. Otherwise, SHUT UP!!!!!" LOL
I enjoy having my husband as head--we are both out of the WT. But now I feel complete as his partner, not the silent braindead body that just sat there in the second sit next to him in the Kingdom Hall. I realized that's not how God sees women. Praise Him! :)

It shouldn't surprise you that the JW in question are STINGY with their money. The only approved JW money activity is sticking it in the contribution box.
JW don't give gifts for anything--or rather, it is rare the one who does. They don't want to give graduation parties or anything--God forbid you give a present to someone for achieving an accomplishment!
Since I've been out, and especially now that I'm pregnant, all of my friends have been DYING to give me a shower.
Amazing, huh? One group WANTS to give showers, the other group begrudges the guest of honor.
Great post.
