I've been reading all about Fridays denouncement of Joelbear, along with other rabid posters who condemn anyone who has a sexual relation ship with anyone that they are not married to, and then only in the manner that is approved of by the WTBTS.

Isn't it crazy? Think about it, what are the most basic of human instincts?

I know that one is to procreate and another is to survive. So, if you want to remove a persons resistance to following a certain religion, to make him a JW clone, what better way than to stifle that persons most basic instincts?

Forbid sex! Once someone believes that sex is a no-no, you've really got them. Sex makes the world go round, it provides a wonderful frisson in life, even just the fleeting thought of sex with someone can be a flirtatious delight. Take that away and you have mundanity.

Take away the will to survive. Once you've convinced someone that they must never, at all costs, receive a blood transfusion, haven't you in effect got that person to surrender their survival instinct? Haven't you actually made a clone of that person even though they will probably never have to face the blood issue?

Now that a persons natural sexuality has been supressed and their survival instinct throttled, what is needed next?

Why of course! Good old fashioned fear! Fear of the very world in which we live. This Wicked old system . Fear of demons. Fear of their own God! Fear of wrongdoing. Fear of being shunned. Fear of disapproval. Fear of apostates. Fear of not doing enough. Fear of the internet. Fear of life itself!

Isn't it great to be here!

Now I know I HAVE to meet you, just to give you a great big HUG!!!

{{{{{{{{{{{Michael}}}}}}}}}}}}} Your name is Michael, isn't it??

You are so sweet, and I love the way your mind works, kind of like mine. Is it the English genes, or is that jeans? You know we could be related!

My god, Englisman! I leave for half a year, and you're still raving about sex!! Good for you!

I have in recent weeks become quite good friends with a woman who is what some might call a radical, feminist, lesbian. We have had these most amazing discussions about sex and homosexuality, etc. This has been quite an experience for someone raised a JW - and very enlightening. Imagine a former elder being the confidant of a lesbian's love life?! Ah, life continues to be full of signs and wonders.

But this has really opened my eyes to what you write about how the Society (and most religion in general) essentially has corrupted our view of what is really a very natural and wonderful process.

And an interesting side note: This woman's last straight romance was with a JW!!! Really. She was in graphic design for advertising, and this was a guy working in the same field who she dated for a year and a half. She told me that he came back from a district convention one time and told her that they couldn't have sex anymore!! Ah, pricked the poor soul's conscience - (sorry for that use of words!) but not for long, she told me.

    Good to hear your voice.

Hi Seeker 4, what a pleasant surprise!

Yup, still rattling on about sex even though I am as faithful as on old sheepdog to Her Ladyship.

I see the grief that some of these Newbies go through - and sex is a big deal - anbd understand how damaging enforced celibacy can be, particularly to the youngsters who are bustin' with testosterone.

I have 3 sons myself, and no-way would I try to restrict their sexual habits other than make sure that they were well educated in the pro's and cons of the whole business. I remember too well what its like when you say "yes", the lady says "yes" and the WTBTS says "no or you're out!"

The thought process of taking the survival instinct away goes far beyond sexual rules.

Jehovah's Witnesses are told specifically that this life is not real. That only the new life in the new system is real.

They can use this reasoning on each topic: sex, college, employment, how to treat disfellowshipped loved ones, neutrality, on and on and on.

One a witness buys into the universal notion that their present life is basically worthless, they are open to a wide range of suggestions as to how to live and spend their time.

I find this the greatest crime the Watchtower and other "pie in the sky by and by when you die" religions commit.

    hugs
