    Hi RE,

You seem like a reasonable person.

How do you rationalize having discussions with exJWs? Serious question. Not baiting you.

How do you view people like You Know and Friday who clearly do not show a loving approach towards presenting the pro-JW case in any arguments?

How do you feel about disfellowshipping and shunning? Do you really believe it is useful in rehabilitating people? Do you really believe the practice keeps the congregation clean?

Hoping to have a rational conversation with an actual Jehovah's Witness who takes their being a witness seriously.

    Joel

    Good questions, Joel.

I'm with outcast. One day, I'd love to see a reasonable witness come along and answer questions like the ones you posed (without all the b.s. that we've seen) from a real, compassionate, thinking JW. I'm not optimistic. But then, to be fair, this IS Thursday so maybe RE's at the meeting. (where did you see his post? I missed it)

[Answer this post tomorrow to bring the thread back to the top so he'll see it.]

    peace, big fella.

    Greetings Joel,
I hope I can answer your questions

How do you view people like You Know and Friday who clearly do not show a loving approach towards presenting the pro-JW case in any arguments

Everybody is entitled to their opinions.

How do you feel about disfellowshipping and shunning? Do you really believe it is useful in rehabilitating people? Do you really believe the practice keeps the congregation clean

I believe it can be very useful. However the extent to which some JW's take this is often times to far. If you have family memeber who are df'd, you must maintain a reasonable relationship with them.
How can it not keep it clean? By removing an unrepentant sinner, you are no longer subject to his ways and opinions which may be contrary to Bible standards. [/quote]
