We're back! Thanks for everyone who sent us some love on Scully's post. Talk about a whirlwind visit though. My head is still spinning.
We left Halifax Wednesday afternoon, still tired from the previous night of beer drinking and visiting with Uzzah, driving to Freeport Maine and staying the night there. The next day involved back-to-school outlet shopping and continuing the rest of our trip to Niagara Falls and getting there about 10 pm.
Friday Mrs. Kwin had to still get a dress for the wedding we were going to on Saturday, so we spent the morning doing that, visiting Mrs. Kwin's parents then spent the evening drinking beer with Mr and Mrs Quotes until 1 am! What a great couple!
Saturday involved going to the wedding that we made the trip for, visiting with my ex-JW sister between ceremony and reception, then the awesome reception at one of the nicest hotels in the city. But at $400 a night for a room, it better be nice! If you haven't been to a large Polish wedding, I would recommend getting some Polish friends! Talk about a great party! Got home about 2am.
Sunday morning we got up at about 9am, went to the Flying Saucer for breakfast for their 99cent breakfast special, picked up the kids from my sister's place, and went back to the inlaws for a huge BBQ with all Mrs. Kwin's family (about 40 people). None of whom are ex-JW's. Another late night!
Monday I went to Orangeville for Vicky Boer's father's sentancing, on the way there stopping off at Tim Horton's and running into someone I went to school with, who was a great friend of mine. Was able to give her my contact info so we can keep in touch now! Was at the courthouse until about 5pm, then made the drive back home to St. Catharines. Spent the evening with my family.
Tuesday, left for home at 9am, drove to Toronto for lunch with Lawrence. Another great guy, and an excellant host! Left there and got coffee with Hawkaw, then supper with Scully and her family. If you ever visit Scully, request her rice and veggie mix! It was awesome! A major storm was headed that way, so Scully and her family invited us to stay the night. What great friends!
Wednesday morning, we left and it was pouring with rain. We hit rush hour in Montreal and fought with heavy rainfall for 10 hours. Met up with Vicki for supper and chatted for an hour and a half. Another super person! Left there, and we were heading down the Trans-Canada looking for a gas station, but they all closed at 10pm. As we were almost on empty, we came up to an exit and it said, "Last Gas Station for 70 km." Pull up to the gas station, only to find it closed a half hour previously. Crap! So, with all our camping gear in the trunk, we set up for the night at a closed visitor information center. Wind was aweful, and we couldn't keep the tent secured because of it so we didn't sleep much last night.
Today, Thursday, we got up at 6am, packed up the car again only to find that it wouldn't start. We parked on a slight incline and I think that drained all the fuel to the back of the tank and because of all the moisture in the air the spark plugs must have gotten damp or something. I walked to the gas station about 5 mins away and brought a can back to the car, but it was only a gallon, not enough so I had to go back and get more. I let the car sit for a bit, and at 9 am, it finally started. Mrs. Kwin had a Dr's appointment in the morning that we missed, and a specialist appointment at 1pm, that quite fortunately was closer to where we were then where we were going to. We finally got home at 3pm, exhausted, but glad we had such a great trip.
8 days, and in total 12 ex-JW's/apostates! It's really great putting faces to avatars, and meeting people who you know so well (or not so well) online. I only wish I had gotten a shirt before hand and gotten everyone to sign it! Mrs. Kwin thought of that, but was too late! Again, thanks to everyone who entertained, hosted or hung out with us! We had a great action-packed visit!
