My daughter came home from work while ago and told me that some of the snooty elite in The Woodlands (North of Houston) community are complaining because there are a LOT of cars with Louisiana license plates parked on their streets. They are also complaining that some houses in The Woodlands community are housing too many families. Where do these snotty people think these refugees should go? What *ssholes!!!

I hope someone gives these snooty people the publicity they deserve.

    Frannie-

Isn't that a pisser! Maybe these people will enact new zoning laws overnight. They forget that no one owns the earth, they just "hold title" for a season(s). Death is quite the equalizer - no one gets out of here alive, and no one takes anything with them. Life should be so even, then maybe those in the Woodlands would get their heads out of their asses.

I agree, Lawrence. However.....The Woodlands Community commission (or whatever) that they've been complaining to are well aware that these refugees are giving a HUGE boost to the economy locally.

Despite the tragedies occurring at this moment, I can just imagine the uproar of the locals when the barbeques begin Louisiana style. The "commission" might go into legislation mode in the middle of the night. I know the area you speak of, was there about 2 years ago, it's amazing that people sweat the "small stuff" in the midst of a disaster (when they are removed).

They have no compassion. If they lost their house I guess they figure they would relocate and buy another. No compassion for those who lost everything and have no where else to turn.

I'd LURV to see dat awright, Lawrence! (firin' up dem bobbyQ grills)

Someone well-heeled once said after the big quake during the 90's in LA that disaster is a great equalizer. It's true, yanno. It'll be a great comeuppance if it occurs to them, eh?

What if they lose their house, there are absolutely NO ATMs nearby, their transportation is lost to some future disaster and their insurance company and bank are wiped out too? There might be no immediate recourse for them. THEN they might learn from it.

    Frannie,

By creating this thread you are doing just that.

People shouldnt need something terrible to happen to them in order to be able to empathise when it happens to someone else, but unfortunately it seems that some people dont have the skill of empathy at all.

If some tragedy happened to them, they would be the first ones squealling long and loud about their 'rights'.

Personally I cant imagine where I would start if my house was washed away, for a start I have no idea which company im insured with (I do it over the internet each year and just go for the cheapest one). If I had no documents I dont know how I would begin to access help.

Those rich people have so many safety nets they have no idea what its like to be totally without support or fall back options.

Welllll, If the gov. can give eminent domain for a corporation like wal-mart, I think they sure as heck can give eminent domain for FEMA. Starting with large propertied, snooty bastards
