I went to Brooklyn Heights today, mapping out the exact route for our protest march on 10/13.
As I am waiting for the traffic light to change (on the corner of Pearl st and Sand st) out of the corner of my eye what do I see:
A young man in a wool suit (81 degrees outside kiddo!) approaching me with a tract in hand.
Poor kid. He may have been 18-19 years old but looked more like a 14 year old.
So, he starts talking. I shook my head as if to say "don't talk to me" but he keeps talking.
I couldn't even figure out what he was saying. He kept stumbling over his words and it didn't even seem like he knew what the tract was about! (The one that has the Jesus illustration on front).
I was thinking about what should I say to this young man. Despite his stuttering problem he seemed very smart and outgoing. I was thinking "shouldn't he be in college? or at the beach today?"
I just let him go on with his presentation, didn't interrupt. All in all it must have taken 15-20 seconds. I took the tract from him and let him go on his way.
A block away I threw out the tract and then busted out laughing. If that kid only knew the real reason why I was in that neighborhood!!
