The threat of a new bird flu pandemic is looming large as scientists begin to concede that the flu virus has entered the turning-point phase of pandemic development with reports of human-to-human infections in four countries. [The virus] has already moved from phase 3 to phase 4 [in terms of the World Health Organisations’pandemic alert levels], Out of only 4 phases that means it is starting now and Man has no way of stopping it. It can only stop itself now, lets pray it does. Many Scientist say that as many as 30% of the world population will die from this threat, at greatest risk is the very young and older populations. What are you willing to do if this really happens? I am ready to take my kids out of school and live like a hermit untill it passes. THIS IS the biggest threat that we today have ever seen. It is the same type of virus (H5N1) that wipped out millions in the past. Be smart and store up some food incase it hits.

Well what are you willing to do to save your family? Honestly it looks like it is going to happen. Alot of the Witnesses I know will rejoice as long as they are spared they have looked forward to it.

I saw something on the ticker a couple of months ago, that reported several human cases in Asia. It was surprising to me that the general media didn't pick up on it.

Do you really think people are going to go into survivalist mode and hunker down? Not in this society ... donchaknow we are invincible? (slight sarcasm intended)

The danger sure seems real to me. (no sarcasm intended) I wonder if and when the spread of this flu will become a reality.

Well, if it happens, I'll survive. I never catch a cold.

One does not wish to spread alarm or get people worried over something that may well not happen , and if it does it may not be anywhere as bad as the worst forecasts.

But - It is a story that I have been following and with the Autumn migration of birds it seems inevitible that it will be seen in Europe , at least in the bird population .

But you know what they say, "If you cannot personally do anything to stop it happening, dont spend your time worrying about it"

Yup, Bluesbrother, I hafta agree with ya on this one. I have a family, and a wee grandson, 3 months....I could really get upset over this, and wear myself down. Then for sure I'd end up sick with it....I've learned to do all i can, to keep my family as healthy as possible. What more, really, can we do???? If it's coming, there's not a thing more we can do about it, except maybe pray??!!
