I posted about a neighbour of mine in a more critical light a few months ago. Her young daughter of 15 was pregnant and her son of 17, his girlfriend also 17 was pregnant.

My point at the time was, how could this have happened and why hadn't she been keeping an eye on her children?

Also, I was complaining about the chav society that we have here in the UK of scrounging off the state. Something that still bugs me by the way.

However, the young girl became dangerously ill with a very low blood count of less than 7 and the hospital did NOT want to give her blood as they believed it too risky and also they were hoping that she would improve. On talking about the problem I suggested to the neighbour that her brother could always donate a few pints in case she need blood desperately if they were still worried about blood loss. She was surprised asking why a JW would suggest such a thing. i explained that I had left JW land and we talked about JW doctrine, shunning etc. She said how 'unchristlike' the JWs were in that they did not show love and rejected eachother for wrongdoing!

Well, everything went well with baby. Infact a very beautiful little girl was born. Grandma put the cot IN FULL VIEW IN THE WINDOW OF HER HOME proudly displaying the fact that her daughter had given birth to such a beautiful child. She looks after both the babys for her children whenever they need help. She loves them, drives them here there and everywhere, supports them in any way she can.

This is a woman who, as a JW, I looked down my nose at because she refused to marry her boyfriend, and eventually had several boyfriends.

She, I found, has what the JWs never will have with all their looking down their noses at everyone else.

This woman has more christ like personality in her little finger than the whole WTBTS and those who follow it will ever have.

    She has LOVE.

I'm priviliged to be her neighbour. She handled the whole situation with dignity, respect, care and love.

My hat is off to her. I only wish I could be such a loving person!

The passage the JWs will never understand:

1 Corinthians 13. 13: And now these three remain: faith, hope, and love. But the greatest of these is love.

    Jehovah's Witnesses:

There are a couple of meanings for the word 'hypocrite' as defined by Webster's New Universal Unabridged Dictionary.

    1. A person who pretends to have virtues, moral or religious beliefs, principles, etc., that he or she does not actually possess, esp. a person whose actions belie stated beliefs.

You won't find too many JWs doing that sort of thing, because they can't (are not supposed to) enter on their Field Service Report the time taken up while engaged in such matters.

The WTS emphasises hours / numbers ahead of everything else - and surprise, surprise - that is all they get!

Great post Gill! Yeah it's weird how once you're out of the JW trap you notice how completely screwed up their view on love really is..........

I have met a couple of witnesses who really impressed me. Thinking of them teaches me alot about how a person can be a true Christian AND be a witness at the same time.

They were not prominant in the halls, nor were they pioneers. Their Christianity was solid and strong, but not showy. In the everyday dealings with people they showed their true colors. I take pleasure in meditating on those people.

Hi All and thanks for your replys.

I've been reading a little, and I mean only a little so far on Gnostics, and how they feel that the being Godlike/ Christlike etc doesn't come from being in any religious organizations but it is something that comes from the heart and the being of the person.

In fact, I don't remember Christ saying anything about going to meetings and selling mags and pamphlets etc.

I heard more christian words from may 'wayward' neighbour to inspire me to be a good person, in a half an hour conversation than I had ever heard from a JW or from the Watchtower.

Love and godliness is nothing to do with religion.

Religion is just a means to control people.

Being like Christ is another kettle of fish all together.
