Circuit assemblies and special days are year round. District conventions are held in the "winter" in countries south of the equator (their summer)

We had some Circuit Assemblies late enough in the year that there was snow...in fact I ran into a snowstorm on my 2+ hour drive to Monroe, NY once....and I turned around and went right back home. I was getting fed up with driving hours at the break of dawn in dangerous conditions just so I could be bored rigid for 8 more hours and then have to drive all the way home again.

October is coming up - in the UK that means only one thing - district assembly. D'oh!

Good for you......driving back home. I should have done the same. Those roads in and around Monroe were extremely dangerous.....I hated going there, and it seemed that we always had a convention in January, when the snow on the ground was knee deep.

Soledad, I started becoming a bad dub not long after moving to CT. Working 50 hours a week really cuts into your spiritual zeal. It became harder and harder to give up a whole weekend just to listen to the boring, guilt-inducing slop from the podium. I also detested the Monroe Assembly Hall...it was remote, there were no restaurants nearby so that you could stop for dinner on the way home (I never stayed overnight in the area as money was way too tight), and I found the interior decor so fugly and depressing that it was all I could do to stay for the entire program sometimes. I know that's shallow, but for some reason the flourescent lights and horrible, dated navy and orange decor really effected my attitude. LOL

I hear you. One time I walked out of there in the middle of the afternoon session. I couldn't take it. To me it had the appeareance of some wacky remote compound instead of a place of worship. I had been going there since I was about 4 years old and I absolutely dreaded going there every year after. Even worse than going there was cleaning it! GRRR!
I found out some years ago that the Watchtower sold the place for $2Million to the Hasidim in that area. I sure hope they did a complete makeover!
