Ever Had to go back for One Day?

Hi,

I was brought up a JW mother pioneer father Elder, and Sister Pioneer. I Left 5 years ago. I recently had to go to my sisters wedding in the old kingdom hall!!

All the poeple who i grew up with are now Elders and Mini Servents. My partner and i were not made that welcome! And those who did talk to us hade decided that it was a appropiate time and place to try and convert me back!! And felt that it was there place to question my own belives.

They look at you as if you have commited murder!

My only saving grace was the oppertunity to tell a C.O to F*** off and that he was not invited to my sisters wedding to Preach and that my belives were personal to me and didnt find it appropiate for him to ask me about them!

Incidently I was not asked to sit at the top tabel with my family i was hidden in the corner of the room, and the wedding photos were done when i wasnt there! family values for you!

Has anybody had any experiences of this type? I understand that i am lucky to be invited to my sisters wedding as some of you will have been cut off compleetly. I was to but managed to get talking to them in the last month.

Others here have had similiar experiences here, yep.

The last time I stepped foot in a hall was for the funneral of my grandfather. I wore pants as did my sister , my 4 year old daughter was very unhappy and embarassed my mother, and I walked my restless 1 year old around in the back of the hall and outside (no I didnt spank him to make him sit still - I'm such a bad mother ). Thankfully no one apporoached me to say anything stupid - maybe it was the "dont f**k with me" look on my face?

Thats so terrible what they did to you. I guess tho it was commendable that they did actually invite you, many here have not been invited at all and told after the wedding has occured.

Yes, I went back last year for a funeral. Some ignored me, some spoke with me and tried to convert me back. I signed the guest book in big bold letters and wrote my address down. People looked very scared around me. My mom wanted to sit in the back, I walked straight up to the front and sat there.

I had to go back to the hall 3 times since I left 14 years ago: My sister's, grandmother's, and mother's funerals. All of which were the worst experiences of my life. It makes me retch when they use someone's death as an excuse to pimp their aweful religion. Dumb assholes.

Yes, around 18 months ago we were invited to my nieces wedding, this was about 3 months after we had left the borg. Unfortunately for them, they had sent us the invitation before they realised that we were leaving. We knew in advance how they would treat us but we had nothing to lose and wanted to see how they would all react.

Of course we were shunned and although it didn't surprise us, it still made us feel hurt and angry. At the reception centre our relatives were all sitting at the front three tables, however my wife and I were conveniently placed at a table at the back of the building with people we had never meet in our life.

But hey you get over it and just move on with life.
