Has the online JW community matured?

Since H20 was established in mid 1996, many JW forums have come and gone. Some are still with us, such as JWD and H20, others have only been around for a couple of years.

Has the JW and exJW online community finally come of age? I would consider JWD to be firmly established, and it continues to serve its purpose of informing current witnesses about the Watchtower, while offering friendship and support to those with a "stricken spirit" - those who have been wrongfully disfellowshipped or shunned because they believed differently.

Is the online JW community here to stay? It would appear so.

From reading many of the boards, it would seem that there is a new trend happening - active witnesses are mixing with exwitnesses on JW boards with little fanfare. Very few pro JW boards are left, and those that still operate are hidden or password protected.

For those active witnesses who go online for the first time, and only see exJW boards, it may be tempting to read what's going on, and in the process learn new things they did not know about the Society.

You could say the online JW community has been around for about 10 years - a long time.

What more could happen in the next 5 years?

I think (hope) that it's easier for JWs to mingle on the internet now and the "us vs them" is not as strong as it was (ie. definite exJW and proJW boards).

Current JWs are most welcome to post here and discuss / debate related topics as much as anyone else.
